Introduction of Otoacoustic
Definition of Otoacoustic Emissions: Otoacoustic Emissions is an audio energy generated from the cochlea, released through the ossicular chain and the tympanic membrane and released into the external auditory canal (Kemp, 1986). It reflects that the cochlea can not only passively sense the sound signal, but also has the function of generating sound energy actively.
Otoacoustic emission is the product of the movement of hair cells in the cochlea, the modulation of the outer hair cell to the basement membrane, which amplifies the weak acoustic signal. Its clinical significance is that it provides us with a means of detecting cochlear amplification and functional integrity of outer hair cells.
